Incorrect fuses listed
|
The following information maybe limited to 2006 300c's built and sold in Canada with a "First Edition" owners manual.
As some of you are probabaly aware the owner's manual contains a number of fuse size errors when comparing it to what your car has installed in it from the factory. Additionally, the owner's manual fuse sizes dont match up exactly to what is printed in the 2006 service manual. You may also have noticed the vehicle has some fuses installed in some locations that both the owner's manual and service manual say are blank.
Here's my list of fuse errors;
1. Front PDC - cavity #5 - my car has a 20a installed when owner's and service manual say it should be a 25a
2. Front PDC - cavity #12 - my car has a 5a installed when owner's and service manual say it should be blank
3. Front PDC - cavity 14 - my car has a 25a installed when the owner's manual says 20a and service manual says 25a
4. Front PDC - cavity 15 - my car has a 20a installed when the owner's manual says 25a and the service manual says 20a
5. Front PDC - cavity #16 - my car has a 15a installed when the owner's manual says 20a and the service manual says 15a
6. Front PDC - cavity #24 - my car has a 60a installed when owner's and service manual say it should be blank
I haven't finished checking the rear yet but have already found some errors and will post them soon.
Speaking as an automotive forensic investigator, I find these errors to be serious enough to inform Transport Canada. NHTSA has recalled vehicles that have had the wrong tire pressures or axle weight ratings listed on a sticker and these errors, if wide spread, are as at least as serious. This is where forum members can helpout, please check your manuals and your vehicles to see if the two match.
BTW - my 2006 300C has had absolutely no problems of any kind, has 17K kms on it, and has NAV, DVD, sunroof and almost every other 06 option except AWD
Hope this helps out some members since you could be trying to troubleshoot a system then think someone has goofed around with it (because of the wrong rating on the fuse) when in fact they have not. Whatever the case, whether the factory installed a late change or the service manual is correct or the owner's manual is correct I/we need to know.
