If it were me, I'd rather let the car lot off the hook instead of the warranty. For the simple reason that the car lot was at least being reasonable (after all they didn't build the car or cause the problem) but the warranty company took your money and then tried to deny a legitimate claim. I'd call their bluff.

I'm curious though, how many miles did you have before you had this problem? I figured I was off the hook on my nearly 3 year old "C" since I've never had this happen. I've only got 10,300 mile on her though.
