I made some ramps using 2x8s. I took an 8' plank and cut it down to a 4' section and then cut another piece to about 2.5' and stacked it and then another piece to a 1'. Cut the ends of each one at an angle. I drive up on these ramps and my regular floor jack works fine.

Jeez, I did exactly the same thing except used 2x12's. Works great just like you said.
