I remember seeing a report on Dateline or 20/20 comparing the use of handheld cellular phones and wireless devices while driving. In both cases, the drivers were distracted the exact same amount and having a wireless device did not reduce the amount of accidents due to cellular use. So this appears to be another pointless law on the books. For the record, Chicago already has this law in effect, although I don't think it's really enforced.
