One thing about that show "Knight Rider" I watched in my youth that I liked was that he would push a button and it would cycle the plate to a different one. I think he had three combinations. I always thought about building a little system to do that (ya know, running a toll in a pinch if you have no change, etc.) No doubt if you were ever discovered with a system that cycles between different plates at the push of a button you'd probably be staring at some federal-level judge sooner or later; but it's a nice thought!

Anyway, to hell with front plates - it throws off the look of the front grill too much. If I ever get a fix-it ticket I'll show up with the front-plate and get it signed off, pay the $15, and then when I get home the plate comes right back off.

Rinse-cycle-repeat.

Simple operating expense - so just say NO to front plates especially if you care about the look of the front of your car.
