auto headlight mod on 07 build cars

before I damage my light switch levering off the knob, has anyone succesfully done the mod on a 07 build car, as there was a thread that suggested that chrysler had got wind of it and disabled the mod?

I had a go at getting the switch off by pulling with molegrips with fabric aroound the knob to stop scratching and by levering with a screwdriver with the head protected by fabric and there is not enough purchase to make it come off, I dont want to damage the switch if it doesnt work.

was thinking of buying an entire new switch, if chryler have stopped the mod will a new switch still work as an alternative.

regards
