I then took great pleasure in pointing out that they had failed their own item which was still (just) under warranty. Yet another plate was then fitted - went to check and discovered front and rear plates now had different registrations! Back into the workshop - third time lucky, I thought. This time all seemed OK, although I now noticed they had obviously got fed up with screws and had resorted to sticky pads. A few months later, on a very hot day, said plate fell off and I then did a proper job sticking it back on. Next MOT was OK - I think the testers must now be reading the name at the bottom of the plate!

Now to my 300C - not yet 2yrs old and the rear plate has developed wrinkles - to match its owner maybe? What is it about rear plates? I've never had any problems with front plates. Is there any such thing as a long-life rear number plate, I wonder?
that is not a fail if its miniscule, does the crack make 1 of your numbers/letters look like a different one??,can the plate be clearly read from 20metres??yes??then its a pass.I think your MOT station is a bit gung-ho.
If in doubt you can ask to see the VOSA manual they use or even on the VOSA supplied computer system, they are not allowed to refuse you to look at the book, but read it very carefully as they do word it wierdly and confusingly
