It used to mean to put MTBE in it. I guess nowadays they all do it with ethanol. It essentially waters down the gas. The purpose originally was to water down the gas so that all those carburated cars that were set rich wouldn't pollute so much...only, there are almost none of those on the road any more. On the other hand, it does reduce your mpg...it also increases the cost of gas (though the government subsidizes the heck out of ethanol to counter this, IMHO a cost is a cost).

It's funny how right when local governments were starting to move away from oxygenation in fuel, the federal government stepped in with an ethanol mandate.
