Those are overpriced by about $100. You should be able to find one locally wherever you are for around $250-300 if you do your homework. They have been imported from china by the millions. A buddy of mine purchased 100 for $215 a piece and sold them all on ebay.

We race them around, some do 20mph and some do 40mph. It seems some have a bit more HP than others. Keep in mind, I am 6' 4" 200lbs. These things are way too fast for a 9 year old to rip around the neighborhood on. Not to mention totally illegal and annoying to your neighbors.

We take ours down to a parking lot at the end of Torrance Airport here in CA. Good fun for adults, but even we have taken a few spills ending in some pretty severe roadrash.

I agree with starting your son on a dirt bike. 50cc should be plenty fun.
