RER Navigation and DVD unit question

I purchased a 300C with the RER radio, navigation, dvdetc, etc and am trying to play and VIEW a DVD. I don't have the rear seat entertainment option but the Chrysler NAVIGATION book describes how to work the whole unit. On page 44 "playing a video DVD" all is fine for some things. It loads, reads, list chapters and plays the DVD but I can only hear AUDIO. When I press menu while the dvd is playing the book says to press the soft "VIEW VIDEO" key but "view video" is not shown. The choice I have is several but "ON SCREEN DISPLAY" is not in dark blue or is disabled on this vehicle. I think that is the key I need. I am doing everything else correct. The car is parked in park, engine not running, ignition is on and the dvd is running but I can't see the dvd. I know that viewing front screen dvd is illegal in quite a few states but not mine. Is something disabled with this unit or am I expecting something that the RER Navigation won't do?????
