Kings, that's a good question. I think the reason is they can spray ALL the cars with the same primer no matter what color the base coat is. I have seen some higher end cars with the primer coat the same color as the base coat. But you pay for it in the price of the car. to test if a car has clear coat or not, simply take a little of an abrasive polish and in a spot not noticeable rub it with a terri pad, if the color comes off on the pad it iis NOT clear coated.
