Mr. Happy you are correct in what you said. Tire dressings are broken down into two categories, solvent based ( which it sounds like the one you were not happy with) and water based (like the one I sell) The professional supply companies I deal with have been refining the chemistry on water based dressings for some time now. Solvent dressings do produce a "wet" look, problem is that the product is gummy/sticky/ oily/ and the sling damages your car. Water based dressings give the tire a more natural look, or satin finish which to me looks better anyway. After trying dozens of dressings from many suppliers I found the one that works for me so I thought I would share my research with all of you. The pics I posted show how it looks, and it will last much longer than most water based stuff. Gary
