Some things to consider ...... that chrome tube will pick up heat and transfer it to the air going through. That filter will be picking up mostly hot under hood engine air. The stock box is at least drawing air from a low source and should be cooler. The stock intake pipe may stay cooler, but at least it is starting with cooler air. Warm (hot) air is less dense, doesn't make as much power. So the cooler you can get the intake air, the better. That is why true cold air intakes are so popular. That is also why racers at the drag strip put ICE on their intakes between runs.
