Alright, I have been absolutely in love with the Halo mod since I saw it and I REALLY want to have this on my 300C SRT8 that I bought last week. There are a lot of jaw dropping cars on this site. I would like to see some of these masterpieces in person some time as there is nothing around here of that caliber.
But I am just a little confused at to what's what to do this correctly. I have read a bunch of threads but seems to find contradictory opinions on certain items.From what I have seen online (since I haven't seen any Halo installs up here in Winnipeg, Canada - I am sure that I would be one of the first to have it around here) I think that the ACC offering is the way to go.

Here are some of the questions that I have.

1. I want to install the halos on the headlights and foglights and would like all the light intensities/color to be the same. so what temperature rating should I be considering if I want to stick with the existing stock bulbs in the headlight? is this even possible?

2. Are there advantages other than the color to go to a higher temp bulbs?

3. It looks like painting the housing will bring out the Halos more vividly. Does anyone have picture of what it would look like to paint them Silver Steel on a car that is the same color? Or would it look better to paint them black?

4. Since I live in Canada, it is a HUGE pain in the butt to ship something to the US to be moded and then have to cross the border again when it is done.Could I just buy complete assemblies that I could justing replace the stock units with? I could go the DIY route, but I would be buying new assemblies anyways to keep a stock set in case I want to return the vechicle to it original state, so I would rather pay the little extra to increase the odds that I would have a troublefree install.

5. I know that laws are different everywhere, but has anyone had issue with cops saying that these are not adequate DRL? I would think that if BMW uses this type of lighting that it just be okay.

6. I think that is all I need to know, but if anyone can provide any additional advice... I am all ears.

I really want to do this, but would like to get more information to make sure that end up with a look that is uniform and proper and not something just slapped together with parts from mutliple vendors.Thanks in advance for any information that anyone can provide.

I agree that AAC is the way to go. I have them and I love them, they always draw a crowd. Even with one busted light 2 weeks ago I had a bunch of Charger guys telling me how much they love them.

The kits that Justin sells are all in the same color as long as you order white, red, blue, etc. I beleive I've read they are a 6000k temp bulbs for the halos themselves. I just installed a 6000k HID kit from Stealth Auto and I think the HIDs are just a smidge more blue then the headlights. Something around a 5000k might be a perfect match, but I'm honestly just nit-picking. If you leave the stock bulbs in, your halos are going to make them look like your dog took a pee in the snow, all gross and yellow.

2. Are there advantages other than the color to go to a higher temp bulbs?
With my 6000k HIDs I feel like I can see everything now... 1000 times better, I highly suggest it.

This is a matter of personal preference. I left mine chrome because I'm going for a black and chrome theme on the outside of my car. I think the black chrome looks sick! Painted housings are going to make them stand out ALOT more. I would suggest matching them Silver steel, I think someone has done that (Ryan?) and it looks great!

AAC offers a core exchange program, or if you really want a spare set, they'll sell you premade assemblies (painted to your choice of colors) and then you'll have your stockers as spares. I HIGHLY suggest avoiding the DIY route... I did it and 3 days later I had mangled headlights and a new set on order. I sent my new set to AAC and that was the best $150 I ever spent. I consider myself pretty handy, but that was a pain in the ass.

I had a cop look like they were gonna come after me for it once, so I just turned them off and took the back roads. I haven't had any issues, but I usually flip them off if I see a LEO just to avoid the hassle, just to be safe.

DON'T DO THE DIY!!! Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the fog halos either. They are hidden behind a frosted part of the "glass" and just look washed out. When you get your headlights back, pull out the inverters and seal them up w/ silicone. Also epoxy them to the inside of the headlight housing... the 2 sided tape they use falls off in like a week. Then run an extra bead of silicone around the outside of the headlight seal just to make sure you don't get any fogging.
Make sure you have a spare car... you're probably looking at a 2 week turn around if you send in your headlights. Also, hooking them up to a switchable power source is a snap. Lots of people can help you out with that.

ahha good write up cpl!

i did color match my headlights bc i was scared that if i left it chrome that the glare off the halos would look bad. they do have UV-coating to reduce the glare off the chrome but i still decided to go with painting them, and havin uv coating put on
