I say that you should still go for the chally hood,or the gt500 hood with the heat extractors

Thanks guys. I know a guy on the vette forum that is awesome with photoshop, I'll see if he can do something for us.

Sodak for sure a chally hood is being made, they are going to make 2. Would be nice to have more options.

I third and fourth the mad eyelids designed into the hood. Love that look being part of the hood. Look forward to seeing what your buddy on the Vette forum does. Love the red Z06 btw.

Hey guy's, I have not forgot about you Was waiting on the guy from the Vette forum to get me a couple pix. Remember these are just ideas we are throwing out there to get any more ideas rolling in, I know it helps to have pictures to help visualize sometimes.

Anyway here we go, first is a Chally hood, but a bit more aggressive than the original. He also came in a bit on the raised section, didn't follow the body line, his thoughts behind that were he thought it looked too wide that way.

Same thing but with some added vents on top

And then this one is kind of a mix of something we have for the Vette's, where it has a cowl and a center vent. This was his first shot at it. I asked that he see about making it a dual vent as well. I kinda like it, looks clean.

This is the hood we just made for the Vette, the mold is actually being made for it as we speak, but just to show you the dual vent so to speak.

Anyway what are you're thoughts on these and any other ideas I can throw at him? Lol, as long as he is ok with doing this for us, he definitely has some skill. I wish I could do this kinda stuff.

Three things to keep in mind when building a custom hood that will sell to the 300 crowd:

1. Appearance (obviously). It must integrate into the awesome styling on thes cars.

2. Performance - cold air intake into the manifold really does improve power.

3. Heat Extraction - these big, iron block V8's are very prone to 'heat soak' and need all the cooling they can get.

A couple of years ago, I put a custom hood on mine, in an effort to get better air in and heat out. It is doing the job, but I could be tempted by a lighter hood, more along the Chally style.

I am in the market for a new hood. This rendering is the closest to what I would be looking for ... except if he could add the "mad eyes".

I might like to see him play with the width of the air vents also ... nothing narrower, but something with them set a bit further apart.

Great start by the way! This is a thread I will be watching intently!

A few years ago, TommyZ fabricated some prototypes. Can't find a pic of his 300 hood, but here is one on a magnum:

Now this is a rendering that got me to make my chally hood ,now that being said all your renderings lack the center line and just like me without that ridge you will have to remove the front bumper and have the ridge removed from it as well. And i chose that route. Now on the last pic with the vett hood ,in my opinion move them to the outside behind the headlights ,would be nise to have a open hood that the cai could pull in out side air .
