I've seen it painted, vinyled and wrapped with a CF looking material. I think the most popular is painting the chrome. Takes some prep, adhesion promote and patience.
As much as I love the look of cars with the chrome painted, I don't want to take such a permanent step. I think I'll stick with vinyl if I do anything. I think it'd be interesting to have the trim match the aluminum of the 20" stockers.
I dechromed my 06 SRT8 with paint. If I were to do it again, I would experiment with vinyl wrap. Nothing wrong with the paint - just a very fiddly, and costly way to get the result.
Here's a pic fom this past summer (click the pic 2 times for a large photo):
^^ That's a really nice machine you have there! Love the hood.
Did you ever consider using a clear smoked wrap for your chrome? Like a really dark window tint.

Plastidip is another choice it is amazing stuff that is durable but not permanent. It goes on like paint... And peels right off like rubber.
There are different colors to choose from not sure if they make a glossy black... BUT you can actually clear coat plastidip to make it shiny

So that was the second time I plastidipped it... Here is the first time I peeled it off just to see how and if it actually worked.
Pulled up an edge of the plastidip and kept rolling it up.
Half way off.
Completely off and back to original color! Super easy to use, very forgiving. Just spray it on let it dry/cure and you have a new look on anything that can changed when you get tired of it!
