Any New Diesels versions out there??

I was wondering if anyone has a new diesel here yet. I would love to get the latest info on them. A comparison would be great. Engine specs etc..

Hi. I have a MY08 CRD and took a 2012 CRD for a spin the other day. I didn't feel as "grunty" or seem to have as much torgue as my current Diesel. The specs seem about the same or more (cannot remember off top of head), but I did feel a bit disapointed in the overall feel of the new diesel. The sales guy told me that the heart is now a Fiat Diesel, so maybe that has something to do with it. Interested i what others have to say as well.

Well that's really interesting, I thought that they actually had more torque in the new model. I think that motor that Fiat use is a good thing though, by what I have read.

The newer plant does have more - 550Nm. I also believe its a bit slower over the 0 - 100. Its just my own observation of owning an "older" CRD and driving a newer one that I felt it had less guts. I also think the lag is bigger - so not as quick off the lights and hence, the slower 0 - 100.

What we need now is the proud owner of a new CRD to come on here and fill us in with the latest news about the new CRD.

A couple of points re the new diesel. First up it seems a great motor in the Grand Cherokee. The Dealers cannot keep up with sales demand and on my 20k tour of the top end and WA this year I saw a lot of them pulling vans and in conversations owners were very happy with power and economy.Up 17Kw on our merc diesel and about 40 newton meters on torque. The 8 speed box is coming sometime in 2013 for the CRD Cherokee.
The other point that I find really disappointing is that the fist 300 CRD series should run for 100s of thousands Kls but reallity is that people do not retain cars for more than a few years ( look how quiet the forum has become). There is not much of a market for old 300cs so the price of them has dropped considerably, I always thought the diesel would hold its value ( like a number of 4x4s) but no. So i am not sure how many of the new diesels will be sold. Maybe the new pentastar petrol 6 will be the popular choice . Why pay 5k extra and pay more for the fuel just to unload it in 3-4 years time.

That's a thorough response to my question Bigmac. I agree with all that you have said. And yes, you sure see lots of Jeeps pulling vans out there. It's funny you know, in the 4x4 world of Toyota and Nissan, Jeeps are crap. I can't believe the bagging that they get. Obviously not everyone is listening to them, otherwise you just wouldn't see the amounts of diesel Jeeps out there. Just look at the 4x4 and caravan and camping forums for instance.
Well I have had the CRD for 6 years now.I am in no hurry to sell it yet. It's still in close to mint condition and I still get that silly grin on my face whenever I drive it. That is some weekends and trips only.
