I just got a quote from Just Car Insurance: $1109 (Rating 1) without modifications but the excess is $800 ($450 standard excess + $350 because it's a V8 ...... weird).

If you add $6000 for alloy wheels + other mods, the premium will be around $100 more. There will be extra excess if you wanto to claim this mods which is around $400)

Thumbs up Aami $498

don't ask me how - I just dug out my schedule from when I insured the 300C in November - I was charged $498 plus $20 for a rental car if required - for coverage for $68,000 and $400 excess.

I get to choose the repairer as well - I just did - it's in the panel shop today already (don't park and go to the movies at a westfield

It's interesting as I just checked my AAMI schedule for my wife's Honda Jazz - it's $575 for agreed value of $18,000.

Am I getting a massive discount for being lifetime rating one - or for having two cars with AAMI ?

AAMI won't cover my TA so it's with Lumley's and is $498 - cheaper than the Jazz as well.

cheers

grunt

grunt, you get amazingly low premiums up there in Brizzy.

What happened to your 300C? Someone back into it? Scape a pillar?

Hope it all turns out okay.

Hiya. Grunt, you must live in the street with the lowest car theft rate in the country!

I'm a rating 1 with AAMI as well and they're charging me $1270 PA with an excess of $400 (I think) and a free rental car if I need it at agreed value of $69k. We've got 2 cars and home etc with these guys. As you can imagine, I queried the massive fluctuation with AAMI after reading some of the posts here and was told that they base their premiums on suburb/city/state and down to street level if there's a record of thefts/breakins etc on a particular street. It sounds a little suspect to me - i'm gonna get quotes for the whole lot!

Hi 300c . We were really disappointed with Shannons quote. From memory we were quoted around $1200-00 and we already had several other Chryslers insured with them. In actual fact when I think about it, in our driveway there was five cars with them. Was surprised with CGU price. I did not talk to them re. any proposed mods. Not sure if HEMI57 did.
Cheers

arnold, I seemed to be the first one to ring all the insurance companies I rang to get a quote for a 300C. None of them had heard of a Chrysler 300C at that time The companies who did provide a quote all had to get back to me after they did some research.

I have had good experience with CGU in the past and very competitive premiums from them so persevered and actually got a contact and started to deal directly with their Underwriting section. These are the guys who make the decisions on what risks they are prepared to take (ie. modifications, driver history, car type, etc, etc, etc). The guy I was dealing with said to me he would be prepared to accept 20" wheels if he could validate that the 300C came standard with 18's (remember this was about 3 weeks before the 300C was released).

The problem we all face as "the public" is, we only get to speak to the public facing staff in these insurance companies and they just refer to their manuals and cannot deal with anything outside the "normal".

On the Shannon's option, I approached them a couple of years back when I had the HSV GTS and my Calais. They gave me quotes on both cars and shortly thereafter I sold the GTS to my Nephew. I approached them again for follow up on the Calais only and they knocked me back as their criteria was that you had to have at least one "classic" insured with them for them to take a mainstream car.

May be Shannons have changed their policy, the guy I spoke to yesterday said he has given me the max discount that he could have then he lowered it some more and I dont have anything insured with them, btw the insure home & content as well if you like, choice of repairer ...etc. LOL

Just for info. Went thru the painful process of getting quotes for insurance this week (29/3/06) and thought the following might be of interest to others having to go thru same process. Rang 5 different companies and had the following results. I'm 39 only other driver (wife is 37), rating 1 for both of us.
SGIC $2,400
AAMI $2,800
CGU $1014
Shannons - wouldnt insure cause it wasnt modified (dont get that??)
QBE $940 - best of the lot and the girl i spoke to loves these cars

Hope this helps another member or guest. Cheers
