hmmmm, any chance that's refering to the new 'later' delivery date I've been told, because still I refuse to sign up to any 'unconditional' deal on something that nobody knows exactly what is it or when it will actually arrive....... part two - with a bit of ringing around it seems that these SRT-8's aren't ALL sold just yet ...hmmmm.
T-Dub, bump was to bring this thread back near the top to keep visibility.
Your sign-up doesn't need to be "unconditional". Add a condition on the contract before signing that it is subject to an acceptable test drive or put an unrealistic driveaway price subject to negotiation when vehicle is actually available. Provide a deposit and make sure it is refundable on your terms. Brighton will do this for you.
Could be true that not all 75 are sold. I guess there is a possibility that a dealer has been allocated one that is not sold yet. I am not in the motor industry myself but it seems a little strange that Chrysler do not force the cars to be moved from one dealer to another if a sale is guaranteed.
Brighton Chrysler said a few weeks back they have taken orders for all they had been allocated and just could not get anymore until future shipments are confirmed.
Hi all. HEMI57 I am with you on this. T-Dub we purchased AHEMI thru Werribee Chrysler and paid a deposit against a maximum that DC expected the car to sell for. Any higher and they had to accept the difference, any lower and it was in our favour. (which it was and around $4500)). When the bank cheque was received by them for the total purchase amount they posted our total deposit straight back to us. At the outset we were well aware that 300C,s were going to sell fast and midnite blue was going to be the rarest colour.
I think if you want it bad you need to be in there with your hand (money?) up. I was talking to DC this week and they seemed to think that all the SRT8,s were spoken for.
Cheers

"BUMP" Oops, a touch a paranoia creeping in there - better take my medication.
As to the "unconditional sign up", I have happily paid the deposit and signed up back in NOV 05, however I insisted at the time that is was "conditional" of a test drive and price confirmation. They had no problem back then.
My gripe is that I've been asked to re-sign as "uncond" three times now. That will just NEVER happen.
They seem to have accepted this, but not without some heated words. That's why I jumped to the wrong BUMP conclusion - I just thought you might have heard something.
cheers

(Ahhhh, the meds are kicking in now.....mmmm that's better......)

They are allocated to the dealers - but not all are sold -
The dealers know that they will sell them if they have them but DC doesn't allocate without a sale note - some sale notes might just get cancelled and resold when the cars arrive...Shhhh.
I think i mentioned this in another thread, but Berwick Chrysler apparently has 2 x black srt8's allocated to them but as yet unsold. Well, as of last friday anyway.
I've ordered my SRT8 in Black and (hopefully) leveraged my existing relationship with a Ford dealer that is owned by a group that also has a Chrysler dealership in the family (if that makes sense).
A quick tour of the Melbourne dealers in my area showed a number of unsold allocation cars but stuff all product knowledge.
Pricing quoted varied by about $7k between high and low and the expected delivery date varied by 4 months so we can add that to the product knowledge gap.
Thanks to this site I've sourced a few bits from the site here as well.
Anyone have any news on the expected arrival date? Last time my dealer spoke to me which must of been Jan, he said March/April. I can't see that happening. I think we here have more idea than DC do!
I haven't been asked to sign anything as yet. I put down a $1000 deposit by c/c back in Oct 2005. My dealer said my allocation has been confirmed, but hasn't got me to sign a contact for price etc. Last conversation I had with him he said looks like 81K. I haven't bothered chasing him up because I think I will hear it here first.

Cheers,
Steve.
I've purchased about twenty or so cars over the years and I have never felt as "in the dark" as I do with this SRT8 purchase.
It really shouldn't be this hard.
I rarely read a story in this forum that doesn't lean towards the buyer becoming frustrated as some point.
