What does it mean, mp3 compatible?

Is it possible to plug an ipod into your Chrysler 300c car stereo and have all your music right there ready to go? Or is there some FM frequency you tune in to and it plays by remote, like at the drive-in? What the story?

If your unit has the appropriate plug-in, then that's what you can do with an iPod-type device; however, if you're only referring to the fact that your CD player is .mp3 compatible, then this means that your unit is also capable of playing .mp3 music tracks which been have recorded to compact disc.

Dom, my wife is the CD "Jockey" at our place. She burns the CD's (CD-R, CD-RW) with songs in MP3 format. You can fit about 150 tracks on one CD, of course depending on the length of the songs. You can have Directories so you can navigate around the CD more easily.

She also has her i-River. With this we use a FM transmitter with plugs into the power socket and the i-River headphone jack. Tune into a compatible FM frequency and away you go. You can pick these up off eBay for about A$15 shipping inclusive.

I break the law, I burn heaps of music which i get off limewire and i've got cd's everywhere. What i'd rather do is just download everything onto my ipod or iriver (i dont actually have one yet but will buy one soon) and plug it into the car and play it through the system. Ideally i would like a holder customised, put it next to the autostick or somewhere convenient, and have the plugs/wiring installed under the dash connecting the holder to the stereo. Just plug it in the holder and everything's connected. Then i'd hardly ever need to carry cd's at all in the car, ever. What do you think?
