(i think he's the only aussie on the forum who has the OEM nav headunit installed, therefore his feedback will be very valuable)

For those still wondering if this is feasible: my car will be heading to ASL as soon as it arrives (I refuse to live without Nav) - I've sent him all the wiring schematics I can find and he is fairly confident that the VDO Dayton unit can be interfaced to the factory HU. Given that they are the suppliers of the rear seat DVD system for the 300C here plus the authorised repairers for the Ford factory Nav units I'd be inclined to think that if it can be done then these are the guys.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Cheers
Russ

does anyone know where i can get a new face plate for the stereo because i wnt to put in a pioneer 7in flipout touch screen and it will leave a big hole.
and i emailed a company in the us called DRIVESOFT and asked if they have a dealer here in aus and if it will work. Its a multimedia computer for the car i see them alot in "DUB magazine" and on "MTV Pimp my ride" apparently it does everything including Nav, dvd , mp3 , Radio , cd, Tv tuner and video player and is compatible with slave screens in the headrest and i think ps2,xbox etc.

Well i've got a quote, nearly $11,000. For this:

*Eclipse AVN-6000 headunit
Includes Nav, DVD, CD, and has input capability for Ipod and Rear camera.
*2xAlpine 5in screens for my headrests
*2xAlpine headphones for kids in the back
*switch installed to make front screen dvd and switch off if i get pulled over by the cops.
*Rear camera
*6 stack cd in the boot (can't play dvd and cd at same time through headunit, so i'll need a stacker if i want to listen to cd's whilst kids watch dvd)
*MD Quart reference speakers 6x9 front and rear
(eliminate center channel altogether.)
*Rockford Fosgate amp to drive speakers
*seperate Rockford Fosgate amp to drive the current kicker subbie in the boot.
*ipod wiring to the glove box
*all wiring and install.
Allup roughly 11 grand. 10800 or something. Excuse my french but first thing i thought was **** me drunk that's a lot of dough for a car stereo.

Apparently the current speakers and amp in the car can't be used with any other headunit than the OEM one, which as we all know doesn't have the screen or software to run nav or rear camera. So if you want to install an aftermarket headunit you also have to replace the wiring/speakers/amps. Beats me.

Can anyone with any level of knowledge on these things tell me if i'm getting a decent deal here?

Just loose change to someone like you eh Dom?

11 grand

I cannot see the justification for changing speakers. Speakers are speakers, of course subject to the correct resistance, power rating and performance. They have a +ive & -ive terminal .

Who gave you this quote? I have been talking to Freeway Car Radio in Malvern Road about a new set-up for the TT. They have experience on Exotics and have been recommended. Might be worth an inquiry for you.
