Free automatic headlights

Hello upside downers.

If your cars don't come with automatic headlights you may be interested in this one.

Urbanchemist sent me this link that he had found on another forum.

It took me about 30 seconds and now I to have automatic headlights.

Simple instructions

From my working, you do not need to remove the entire switch, just the revolving knob. Take care when "prying " the knob from the switch as it is quite easy to mark the plastic (not that you or anyone else can see it though)

then 30 seconds later et voila automatic headlights.

Then it's a simple matter of opening up the EVIC Easter Egg and deciding how sensitive you want it to be. The higher the number, the darker it will need to be to put the lights on. Now you can just leave it in auto and let the sensor do the business.

Unbelievable but true.

MTC

p.s. no you can't have The Ashes back OR The World Cup.

I'm going to do this to my car when i get it, i had the same function on my commodore which i recently sold and i loved it.

And re the ashes, i'm starting to think we're no chance with our pathetic bowling lineup. We have probably the best batting lineup in the world, but our bowling without Warne and McGrath is fair dinkum crap. No point making 500 if you can't bowl a team out.

For those of you who don't want to take to their ride with a dremel there is a factory alternative. Check the link below.
I'm checking with Chrysler on Monday to see if the replacement part is available in Oz and how much it will cost.
I'll keep you posted. No pun intended.

Hi Spock1

I'm sorry but I should have corrected the instructions slightly. The small piece of plastic that needs removing can be taken off with a craft knife, or snapped off with a screwdriver. I think that the original chap used a dremel for a reason that I can't imagine at the moment.

Yeah, didn't the England rugby team lose a game a game lately. Can't remember who to? Lovely country, really friendly folks. Nope it's gone!

Hi Murphy,
No need to apologize, I was just offering an alternative for those who want a factory look with the "A" on the headlight switch.

I thought my Mineral Grey was difficult to keep clean but i see by your description that "Arnie" ain't exactly a walk in the park either. I was going to choose black but I knew it would involve plenty of sponge and bucket time so I went with the grey instead. Having said that I've had to wash mine every weekend since I bought it.
Ahhh, the price of love.

Hi Spock1

Funnily enough I don't begrudge any of my cleaning time at all - like you it's nice to see a job well done. I just wish that Arnie would keep his bright & shiny look a bit longer than he does (just got mud flaps this week, seems to help the job a lot).

As for the switch, until your post I wasn't even aware that you could change the switch !! T'internet's a great thing.

MTC

p.s I go upside down to escape from a gloating Scotsman (Belmont and he follows me down here. aaaaarrrrggghh help me, I've got a haggis molesting cyber stalker.

Hi all,

For those who are interested in the auto headlight feature from the factory (see thread #4), it's definitely available. I spoke to Brighton spare parts this morning and they can get them out of Germany for $145.15 inc GST.
Part # is 04602348AD.
