Just thought I'd let everyone know about a possible issue with window tinting and AM radio reception.
I had my windows tinted last week and the day after the work was done I tuned into 3AW as I was driving to work only to be greeted with static that got progressivly worse. By the time I'd reached the end of the Eastern Freeway it was nothing but static. I contacted the place that installed my tint and they reassured me that the rear window definitely has non metallic film.
They mentioned that this problem had occured once before with an Audi and that there is a fix for it. The fix consists of a little Bosch AM antenna that fits discreetly in the inside top left corner of your windscreen. It's not expensive at $80 fitted but it's an unexpected expense that many wouldn't consider.
I'm not saying that it'll happen with all 300's but just be aware that it a real possibility.

Hi Spock1
And you know that your favourite radio station has exerted their muscle(?) and are swapping frequencies with my music station on account that they have a crappy reception.
Not happy, guess its lucky that I don,t want tinted windows hey?
Cheers

Yeah, I was glad to hear the news that they're changing. I do a fair amout of distance driving so it'll make a welcome difference.
I'm amazed that you're willing to admit that you listen to Tragic (as Ernie Sigley calls it) lol.

The US members have been saying you must use "ceramic" (?) film to conserve the radio reception. I must admit that I have not tried AM on mine and, being the supreme optimist, I thought the Chrysler dealer would know the requirements. Must check that out.

not just the US members !!
In the UK I had my car tinted with regular tint and waved bye-bye to my AM reception.
A quick word with my dealer had the tinter returning with ceramic based tint and once again it was hello Mr AM reception again.
The annoying bit was the tinter saying "oh yeah, I knew that it would do that - it's got a radio aeriel in the back windsecreen" - git.
Ceramic tint was no dearer than regular, it just needed ordering in specially.

Whoops, apologies for overlooking the mother country Murph (again).
BTW, I enjoy your writing immensely .
Hey no problem Hemi57
It's just me being a typical Brit and putting my nose into Australian (forum) affairs.
I've just realised that you've got the President of the World (Tony Blair) with you at the moment. A quick word of advice for you, if Mr Bliar says its Tuesday, check and make sure - he's not exactly flavour of the month over here.
