SRT-8 options in Australia....NOTHING!!!

Hi Guys.

Why is it that in good ol' Oz, we can't get any options for our 300C's?

I keep reading of all the various options in the US.

A sunroof is about all we can get!

I think we're being treated like mushrooms.
(Kept in the dark, and fed bull****)

Is that a fair comment, or am I being a bit harsh?

Thanks in advance.

The Wizard.

Hey Wizard, I agree.
Fair enough to bring the cars in at a good price by keeping them "plain", but at least offer us the choice to jam in as many options as we'd like.

I believe the reason for the marketing of "vanilla" cars is down to production to customer leadtime, but having said that the leadtime from an order to delivery has blown out. It also means that we get a bit more for our money as producing all OZ spec'ed cars the same reduces costs.

The consulation is we get a hell of a lot more features than the base model in North America.

How are they positioning and optioning the 300 in Australia? Is it luxury, near luxury or something else? Is DC trying to hit a price point or simply putting together cars with the most popular options?

Moot point from my thinking!. I getting depressed thinking about options when I can't get the car in reasonable time anyway. Could be June now.. and I was an early purchaser.

Hang in there….. believe me I know all about waiting and I can tell you it is soooooo worth it. Once you get the beast you won’t give a second thought about how long it took to get to you. As for options I know it would be great to get all the goodies, but let’s face it as long as it has the 6.1 and all the attached performance that comes with it-you've got the most important parts.

They are positioning up against the local GM & Ford LWB models and the 300C is slightly lower priced but much more loaded.

Chrysler's market research suggested that they would also draw customers away from some of the European Marques too which is what happened in North American.

The 300C has been an outstanding success here in terms of sales/orders and has caught Chrysler a bit by surprise as they did not order sufficient capacity from the factory in Austria.

They should have listened to me the fools

The 300C has been a great success against the local LWB stalwarts despite not quite fitting into the category - it is LWB, being 129 mm longer than Fairlane and 109 mm longer than Statesman for wheelbase but overall length is 54 mm down on Fairlane and 94mm down on Statesman. This has an impact on rear leg room (the usual r'aison d'etre of these vehicles) where it is 53 mm shorter than Fairlane and 78 mm shorter than Statesman. Perhaps proof that they weren't actually purchased for the extra space anyway!

For those interested here is a graph of the LWB sales in Australia up to January 06.

Cheers
Russ

MrVelvet (or should we call you MrStats?? per your Avatar). It is great to have you around on the Forum. The facts and figures you present for our gratification are much appreciated

Good to see the ol' 300C has made a big dent in the Fairlane and Stateman numbers. Now let's see what the SRT8 will do to HSV and FPV.

Australia has some incredible cars. The laws are a little strict regarding speeding for me though. You could do alot worse than the Holdens, Fords and Chryslers you lads have to choose from. Unfortunately other than the outgoing GTO and the CTS-V, GM has no balls at a decent price.
