srt8 pricing - state to state are there differences?

Raise in another thread but i thought it might require it's own space.

I've only been told rough figures by the dealership at this stage, "somewhere under $82,000" were the actual words. Hemi57 has let me know a figure a little more specific, but now there is this rumour filtering through about the metallic paint being standard and apparently it bring the on-road to $79,990 in SA.

I was wondering, could we get everyone to list the price you have been told/signed up for/or paid for your srt8? Maybe a breakdown for all on-roads as well as car price would be good, and also list your state.

I guess this is aimed at bringing some accountability to dealers who may or may not be proactive in forwarding us consumers the best deals available. I'm not really trying to see who screwed who, just what the actual rrp on-road prices for the srt8's are and who is being charged more or less.

Hey Dom,

Check my post in the thread "Metallic paint is now free". I explain the reasons for the difference.

There is still a $570 difference, and i'm wondering if that might come down to the metallic paint thing? If metallic paint is 300, put luxury tax and stamps etc on that, you might come up with $570 would you not? Just want to get my facts straight before i take my enquiries to the dealer...

I guess that could be the only reason for the $570 difference. However, don't forget that dealer delivery can be different between dealerships. Some may charge $1995 some may charge $2495. Also, registration fees in Victoria can be different depending on where you live. For instance, country dwellers will pay less for their registration than city dwellers. These small factors could quite easily add up to $570 dollars. Victorian stamp duty based on rrp of $71990 + 2430 sunroof + 1995 dealer delivery would equal $3830. Hopefully this helps. The only other reason I can think of is a dealer loading the price a little to make a few extra bucks. Very unethical, but not unheard of. Hopefully this is not the case.

Car dealers....unethical....no way, I refuse to believe it.

I've purchased 5 new cars in the past 8 years and, without exception, the finance guy at each dealership has loaded the repayment figures every time.

The sales guys are great to deal with but I've always found the finance guys to be the proverbial "sting in the tail".

Why can't they just write it like
71990 car
500 insurance
2k dealer delivery
et al

As they've written it there, to my eye it doesn't properly itemise everything i am paying for. In my experience that usually mean they are attempting to shroud something, not saying they are actually doing that but it'd be nice to have it all properly itemised. For example what is LCT?
