In response to Doms post.

Scratchy FM on my side also. AM is ok. Subwoofer seems out of phase...
Headrests are a different leather to the seats (Scaled and smooth). Looks poor. Can't open one easily. Bad rattling.
DVD sound is poor as with integration. Need to tune to a FM station which ends up scratchy.
Power steering makes a strange sound when turing and reversing. Wheel turned to the right.
Left mirror does not turn in
Sunroof fails to shut occasionally
Brake dust (I have not listed)..
Towbar under review but no looking good..

My power steering makes some noise too, especially when trying to make the tightish angles.
But my dvd sound is great and the subbie seems fine too. Very happy with the interior. Mirrors work fine. Sunroof not a problem.

I know what you guys mean by the noise when reversing with hard lock. Sounds like the tyre is rubbing on something. I haven't check this issue out in any scrutiny yet but I think it is the tyres scuffing under slow tight turn.

Andrew, you need to try that sub wiring polarity switch. It only takes 5 minutes to do. Just undo the 4 screws around the speaker grill, lift out the speaker and careful pull the wires off while holding the terminals i.e. don't strain the wires

Good write up Andrew glad your liking your new ride!
I can agree with you about the issue with the DVD screens in the headrests. When I had the Startech out for the first cruise it did rattle around alot and due to it being near your ear was really annoying.
As for tuning to an FM station I didn't have any issue and found the clarity of sound very good!

Guys thanks for the comments.

All items are being looked at by service at the moment. They now have details on the towbar also finally.. Guys at Chatswood were helpful (thanks for the tip)

Yes they know about a few of them already, sub woofer - polarity problem, FM stations. The DVD issue is a new one though. There is an option for an inline antenna connection which should have been fitted. I'm not happy with the units headrests or integration just yet though...

Good bunch of blokes down there....

Gotta admit I left about an inch of petrol in the tank when I dropped it off at about 5:30 , the low petrol chime scared the life out of me!!. Glad service is next to a petrol station.

srtaus,

Just curious, did the Chatswood guys say there was anything unique about the SRT8 Towbar?. Also, this subwoofer polarity problem, I tried reversing it but thought it sounded better with it as originally set, but I was playing a CD not tuned to FM. Is this definitely confirmed as a problem or only a user preference thing?

OT, when I swapped over from HEMI 57 to SRT 61 I was expecting great things from the Kicker and was bitterly disappointed. On HEMI 57 I ran the Bass at about +4 and found that in SRT 61 I was running the Bass at max and still not happy. This was for the first few weeks or even a month.

I swapped the polarity, sat in my garage playing various tracks and was not convinced. The next couple of days in real world conditions and I definitely found the Bass response was much better and I again run the Bass setting off max.

My usage is mainly CDs (MP3s).

Got the car back with a few items unresolved.

The FM radio problem could be a batch of units. Dom is probably the first to try a new head unit. Can't wait to hear from him.

Nothing unique at all on the towbar front. The subwoofer seemed out of phase to me, if its ok to you I would leave it. Probably one of those random things that is easily mixed up on assembly and hard for QC to recognise..
