No Rear LCD in Headrests for QLD

For anyone thats interested... Queensland is in the process of passing a law to disable LCD screens in the rear of the front headrests whilst the vehicle is in motion. Apparently people driving behind you can watch the tiny LCD screens and become distracted....~insert sarcasm here~

Basically the screens are to be connected like any front LCD screen, be turned off or blackened out whenever the handbrake is released, although LCD screens mounted below rear line of sight (ie. mounted at the back of the centre console) will still be ok.

Whether or not the law actually passes is another thing...however, as it is identical to the law NSW currently has, i can see which way this issue is leaning towards. I guess that explains why i couldnt order it as an option. Will update this post as soon as i hear more...

hmmmmm that's pretty ordinary.

seems like they are looking at the wrong problem - when people can't drive and get distracted because they are looking at the goodies you've got on a 300.

Going through judicial system and even passing a law to compensate for the rest of the publics 300c envy......priceless. heheheheh

I believe that will not pass since there are a few different car companies offerening them on there cars/trucks.

So I guess MBZ's will not be sold in that state??? I think not.

Well since I just looked that you are not in the States, then that might just happen...

I ordered those headrest DVD but turn down because later found out they are region 4 only. Don't think it is a good idea for spending over $4k for it when you can buy a region free portable for $200 these days. They are pretty bulky too because it is not just a screen but with DVD player built-in. I actually prefer those centre armrest DVD as in US but too bad my dealer said not available here. If the law is true than this is about the only good position to mount a DVD screen. Not too sure because the upcoming Commodore will get a roof mount DVD as well. If they need turn off when driving then better bring a portable along to entertain the kids. Lucky I have not pour $4k down the drain.
