SRT8 Stereo

Thought I'd start a seperate thread.

Just received my car back from service. The subwoofer has improved but not by much.

My settings for a single person driving listening to a CD (not MP3) are below. I find the front speakers bright and the subwoofer muddy with a delayed response. Try Van Halen - Hot for Teacher as a test for the sub woofer. Its its not functioning properly you will realise it.

Bass - middle
Midrange - +3
Treble - middle
Fader +2 to the rear

The midrange works better with the bass in this senario. Music tested, Led Zep, Van Halen, Mozart (yes Mozart!!) from Danish gramophone...

I wonder about others thoughts on the stereo. How is the sub connected, which settings are used etc etc..

post on...

I set mine at:

bass +3
mid -2
treble +2
Fader -2 to the rear

I personally don't like the mid range much, I find at high volume it tends to give out a tinny note which causes distortion easily. Thus why i wind back the mid a bit and move sound slightly to rear, and compensating by increasing treble.

Switch the subwoofer wires inside the enclosure (reverse polarity). It will improve 200%.

Agree on the volume side though by incresing mid-range I feel the boomy muddy sounds from the subwoofer blend a little better...

you would know by hearing the before and after. i am not sure which side is red or black (positive/negative). I have my mid at 0 my bass at 6 and treble at 7. I feel it sounds great. I also disconnected my center dash speaker for better imaging. Makes the system sound better, more balanced and no need to fade anything to the rear. Do a search using the word kicker and you will find instructions on how to disconnect the center channel. Best of luck to ya.

dude what do you mean by cracking the seats? Bring one side down? Or just unfolding the center bit?

Just release the back seats from the latch but don't lower them. They will basically allow more air into the trunk and get better response from the sub. Not a major difference but it helps. If you brought down one or both of the back seats, you will see a biggggggggggg difference but to me it doesn't look right.
