Pusbum, I reckon the tyre place saying that a shake in the steering is what you have to accept is cr@p.

There has been a number of threads about vibration in that speed range on the Forum but from memory it was on 300C with standard set-ups.

Good luck and keep us informed.

It has been suggested that they may have ordered the wrong offset. How can I check what offset the wheels I have are and what should they be?

2) I get a shake in the steering between about 90 and 120km/h. To mee that indicates a need for a wheel alignment or balance. The tyre place has told me that this will happen with the large wheels and there is nothing I can do about it. Is that correct or are they just feeding me cr@p?
Hi pusbum..I am not sure how to check your offset your supplier should be making sure the wheels they supplied you are suitable.and all in good working order when fitted.balanced etc..but they should be between 15mm and 18mm but i have heard of some being 22mm that is probably the cause of your rubbing...As for the steering wobble definitely wheel balance Take them somewhere else for a balance where they are not so busy and rush every thing.and someone with a bit of experience,, they take a while to get 100% and 22" need to be 100% .. after some frustration believe it or not I took them to K-mart and the manager balanced and found my problem and
rectified it ...took their time and no problem now...good luck with yours cheers Frank

pusbum, often the offset is stamped in the inside of the rim. So you will have to remove the wheels to see it. I have seen advertised offsets up to et25 on a 8.5" rim width. The larger the offset the further the rim goes inward.

Also make sure that the rim has the correct size hub of 71.5mm. If the hub is generic and larger the rims need some centering rings.

i think you will find that those xhp wheels are 10 inch thats why they hit if they are hitting it may have knocked off a wheel weight and thats what will cause it to vibrate

Bought new sensors for the new rims, since I drive my car in the winter and didnt want to have to keep changing them back and forth

I will double check the width but I was told they were 9.5". I am going to pull a wheel off tomorrow to try and confirm the offset.
