Couple questions for you if you don't mind please...

Can you just confirm that the "new unit" is actually the upgrade in software to the 3825 Flashpaq and not an entirely new device?

Given your work in the industry, is there a realistic likelihood that SC can build us a program for fuel in OZ based on what you supplied? I'd even be happy with a program that left the engine alone and just let us tinker with the trans and other settings.

Thanks, Sean
This will not require buying more hardware. Just software downloaded to your PC.

For the fuels that you guys have, thats a good one. I would have to say that we would not make a specifc file for your fuel. BUT. With the custom software you would be able to make a specific tune for the fuels.

And yes if you wanted only tranny tuning I am sure you will be able to.

Bump.

Still busting to get some evidence on this power claim.

Sorry Spock1, only just had a chance to catch up with this thread this morning. The claims originally come off the K&N web page - 21HP (15kw). I also spoke with C&V Performance (Con) up here in Sydney that ran a dyno test on a car that had the Hitech exhaust fitted (cats back) plus the K&N aircharger unit and they said that the before and after dyno runs realised a gain of around 32kw so the numbers seem to line up.
I have not run mine yet as I am waiting on the Superchip to do the whole lot in one session. I can tell you that the car has become alot more responsive since fitting both the exhaust and aircharger unit on.

On a side issues, I have also been in discussion with suppliers of Headers and they are telling me that none have been developed so far in Oz but a fear they have is that they might make no dfference to the car's performance and may in fact have a negative effect. A couple of the guys believe that the greatest power gains are to be had from the cats back..
I am also told that one of our Forum guys (Demon??) has fitted a Throttle Body spacer from "Crusin on" with good results?? have ordered one and will advise how I go once it's fitted!!

Thanks for getting back to me HBH. A 32kw gain is pretty damn impressive. You'd certainly be able to feel that through the seat. I'm alway very sceptical about power figures quoted by manufactureres for air intakes on naturally aspirated cars.
The test carried out by a U.S forum member revealled either a miniscule improvement or none at all.
The throttle body spacer is another product that has been debunked by a lot of our U.S colleagues.
I fear that people install these kinds of devices and mistakenly believe that they can feel an inprovement because they want to so much. They don't go to the trouble of actually measuring the before and after performance figures and just go by seat of the pants feel or worse still, more aggressive sound. I seriously considered the TBS but after reading the responses on the U.S forum I quickly changed my mind. I feel that unless there is a majority consensus on a product from end users or actual positve test results that these kinds of products are best treated as dubious.

Odd news about the headers. I would never have predicted a decline in performance. What's their reasoning ?

Cheers
Sean

For those who have not seen the post by Ron in the Superchips forum......great news! They have developed a new tune that suits our fuel and my brief testing on the weekend on BP Ultimate 98 showed no signs of pinging.

LX's with PINGING issues please read!!!

I'll get some more time to try it out this week but my initial impression is that database 59 solved the pinging issue...

UDATE 24/10 - Still happy!! No pinging. Full throttle, shifting at stock limits up to 3rd gear - still no pinging. A little frightened at times but no pinging!

Cheers, Sean.
