Thats nice... but how about 7.2 secs 0 - 100? not too sluggish compared to the 6.4secs of the HEMI V8... i've also heard that when driven appropriately it will deliver better fuel economy than when in factory tune...

food for thought?
Or a Non-Chrysler Diesel chip that takes BHP from 215-261 and torque from 510nm to 660nm - in other words, more than an SRT8.

In true panto fashion

oh yes it can

SRT8 torque 420 lb ft (570 nm) @ 4800 rpm
300C CRD torque (when chipped) 486 lb ft (660 nm) @ 1600 -2800 rpm.

& all from an engine with half the capacity & twice the MPG & double the service intervals.

The futures bright, the futures "Diesel".

MTC

p.s. bhp of course is nowhere near - 425 for the SRT8 and 261 for the chipped CRD, but as my old pappy always used to say - BHP is for talking about in the pub, torque is what you use on the roads each day.

p.p.s got over 40 mpg last weekend on a 325 mile, 80-85 mph run ------ nice and easy on the pocket.

I am sure you know what I mean but it does give me the opportunity to tell how my brother always says about my old Harley because it is rather "agricultural", "when are you going to put a 3 point linkage on that thing and go plough a few paddocks?".

The reference I was making to Arnie was because he now has more grunt that your average Fergy (Massie Ferguson that is).

Makes you wonder why DCX doesn't make the deisel available for the North American market? WHY? WHY? WHY?

From what I understand, the North American market has all sorts of hang up's over what diesel cars are like.

If they had access to the range of cars that we have in the UK, I feel sure that a lot (but not all) drivers would soon changeover.
& if the price of fuel were to hit the same levels that we are paying, I think that it would be a matter of MOST drivers changing.

Hi Murph,

I guess that was the atitude the aussies had about diesel until maybe 2 years ago when diesel started becoming more common place in passenger cars. Our petrol is definately no where near as much as you guys in europe and probably only slightly more than the US, so i do wonder what has brought the turnaround in our part of the world. yes, i agree that petrol has risen dramatically on the past couple of years but the US has risen just as much percentage wise, i'm sure. i was there recently and they were paying over US$3 a gallon. I mentioned this to an american friend of mine who is currently living in Hong Kong and she almost fainted with such high changes. I do wonder if the good ol' US of A will start thinking more about changing over to other fuels rather than just going for huge cars and trucks with even bigger engines.
