After a month overseas, I'm now focussed on getting this vehicle sorted. Think I've agreed the deal, checked that it fitted in my garage (dealer came to help), and all seems set.
The deal will include tint. Hence the title. Can I get some help.
1. Victoria - What % is Legal?
2. Which way does % work - 35% darker than 5% or vise versa?
3. What should I tell the dealer to put on? Black 300c, and I like the thought of not being gawked at..... opinions welcome
Apologies if this is covered in another thread. I searched but seems everyone lists tint as their mods, so all results kept coming up.
From my understanding both front-side windows legal limit is 35%, but the rear-side and rear windows can all be darker than that. Just get your dealer to do it, they'll know already.
If you're prepared to flaunt the law i'd go 10% all round for a black 300c. If not, i'd go 35% front and 20% rear.

Melbman, great news on the progress you have made. Like Dom said, I amsure the dealer will know what to do when it comes to tint but just in case, make sure you have ceramic tint and NOT Metallic if you intend to ever listen to AM on the radio.
Likely that any dealer organised or reputable Tint installer will only go legal maximum.

All windows of a motor vehicle (except the windscreen) avaiable to the driver to obtain a view of the road or other road users must have a light transmittance of at least 35%.
The reflectance of any window fitted with tinting film must not be more than 10% which is effectively the same as untreated glass.
The new NCOP which will form the basis of future National regulations for vehicle modification states:
If the windows of a motor vehicle are coated to reduce light transmittance, the following requirements apply:-
• Visible light transmittance must not be less than 35% when measured through glass and film together.
• Reflectance in the visible light range must not exceed 10%.
• The coating must not be wrinkled, blistered, bubbled or discoloured such that visibility through the glass and film is impaired.
• The windscreen may be coated only above the highest point swept by the windscreen wipers or the upper 10% of the windscreen
Interestingly, although the NCOP is supposed to be National they have allowed an exception for SA where the light transmiitance for the front driver and passenger windows is 70%.
Queensland has the same rules...35% light transmittance on all windows except the front windscreen. This has changed recently...used to be slightly different.
