Aust. National Dealer Bulletin re: TOWBARS on SRT8

Was asked by a dealership to put this up for all our benefit....basically you can't put a towbar onto the SRT8. Beats me, read for yourself.

-------------------------------------------------------------

August 2nd 2006

This bulletin serves as a reminder that the 06MY 300C SRT8 is not approved for towing, per the product information supplied previously and the advice in the owner manual.

DCAuP will accept no responsibility for any towbars fitted to these vehicles, and fitment could void the warranty conditions.

Still no reason why?

Looks like we are becoming a bigger nanny state than the USA, you can tow with one there!

OT, you've got that right, "Nanny state".

Bloody ridiculous how over policed we are in this country. I just love the new "Hoon" laws here. The cops can seize your car if you spin the wheels. It's time we responded to these oppressive laws by writing to our local Pollies.

totally agree we are so over-policed, too many laws. what good would writing to a pollie do though? They'd just screw it up and straight into the waste paper bin.

Yeah maybe Dom, but Aussies are so apathetic when it comes to this sort of stuff and that is why the minorities get so much imposed on the rest of us because they are so vocal.

I am impressed by the Americans and how they stand up for civil liberties. When their government introduced $1 coins years back the population responded and had the government revert to $1 notes. Power of the people. We just complain and then accept it.

we all need to tell the politicians that we are not happy, will not take this and remind them that they work for us and not the other way round.

Off the Soap box now :sad1:

Domenic,

I have seen the bulletin.

I wonder why DC took orders with customers 6 months before delivery which included towbars, why they had a price for towbars, why they then accepted payment for towbars, and why are they fitted to some SRT8 vehicles??

If someone at DC did not check the "ADR towbar box" then they should rectify the situation now. Big screw up at DC me thinks.....

Dude, personally i think it's one of two things, a)whoever organised the compliance stuff was not thorough enough(or too lazy), or b)new srt8 model really isn't compliant.
I heard the Grand Cherokee srt8 can't tow either.

Maybe it's just the power issue? Can the porsche caymen turbo s's tow?

My understanding is the Cherokee SRT8 has twin exhausts exiting the middle rear which makes fitting of a bar impossible.

As I said before, according to the US Specs a 300C SRT8 has the same tow specs as the other vehicles so why not here. The bar fits straight up no problems. The tyres have a high enough load rating and it has bigger brakes, stronger driveline etc etc, it's a joke.

I notice US tow specs have been revised down from 3500lbs to 2000lbs since last I looked? Divide by 2.2 for kilos.

OT
