Tire Pressures

I noticed my right rear tyre is a little flat. After consulting the dash I noticed it was at 2.4 rather than 2.6 bar. The tyre placard recommends 32psi all around (presumably 2.6b = 32psi) which I inflated the tyre to. Funny thing is the dash reads 2.4 bar for that tyre still..

Do I have to reset something?

I was also wondering if I can use the tyre repair kit to pump up tyres without squirting the sealant in?

Thanks, srtaus.

yeh im not sure how they work,i have low profile tyres so i normally run between 40-42psi and on the dash they read 2.8 but normally when i just start the car their at 2.6, takes time to warm up, i did get a screw in one of my wheels and did notice the difference within a few minutes

would be better if the readout was in psi but not sure how to change it or even if you can

I filled up with air the other day, and I noticed by the time I got back in my car the tires already registered a few PSI higher. It should only take a short time. If they do not move at all, perhaps you have a faulty tire gauge, or otherwise maybe a faulty sensor in that wheel?

By the way Turk, that is a sleek looking ride you have.

srtaus

FYI the calculation is 1 bar = 14.5037738 psi, so your 2.6b is more like 37.7 psi, it also does depend on how high above sea level you are bit it does not make much difference as even at 1,000 feet above sea level the calculation only changes to 37.3 psi.
If you inflated to 32psi this is more like 2.2b
Cheers
Bruce

You can change the reading to PSI by going to the "Personal Settings" and selecting "US".

I run my pressures at about 37 PSI using a digital tyre pressure gauge. The pen tyre gauges are quite good for accuracy too.

I notice that the "bar" scale is fairly course, ie. a few PSI difference does not have an affect of the bar reading.

I would also suggest that yes, you could use the compressor you have in the boot. The sealant is a separate container in the assembly with a separate hose. I have a GMC compressor at home which cost me $99 from Bunnings. I bought a compressor accessory kit with hose, tyre inflator (with a totally useless gauge) and other bits and pieces for $49.95 from SuperCheap. I think on special you can get a compressor and accessory kit together for about $120, which I reckon is worth the investment.

John,

Does the US setting effect other menu items. (For instance I use the digital speedo)

Thanks, srtaus.

I'll do a check again. I may have another problem. When I check air on that valve I can't get a proper seal, I can on the other tyres..

Thanks, srtaus

Andrew, yup it changes EVERYTHING

But at least you can switch over the just to check the tyre pressures in PSI that we are all familiar with then switch back for your temperature, fuel, digital speedo, etc, etc.. It's not like you need to check the tyre pressures regularly (unless you suspect a slow leak of course )
