Just thought I would put this Information in on TPM as other Forum Members may be interested in what they look like etc..
Austalian TPM's work off a 433MHz signal and have an solid white oval marking with 433 printed in it as per pic below they send a signal to a receiver, the valve stem acts as the antenna ..
United States sensors work off 315MHz signal and have a white outline oval marking they apparantly interfere or fault a lot here as Jeep had lots of problems with there ignition key here in Australia a while back..hence the change
Both have the frequency marked on them as well...made by Siemens VDO .
The OZ and US TPM's have the same part no. but have the different freqencies and the US ones will not work here and vice versa..
I have been told that when I replace my TPM's from the original stock rims the system may require 10 minutes of driving above 24 kph. for the system to relearn that they are there....This may be so for new ones but my car picked up the original ones as soon as the ignition was swithed on...
Another point to know is that the TPM system can't be switched off so will alarm and beep every 10 minutes if no monitors installed.
If you are thinking about changing to 20' or 22' rims make sure the rim you purchase will accept a TPM..
The price for TPM's in Australia is around $104 each
PS..For any U.S. forum members I have a set of 4 X 315MHZ TPM for sale ...chheeeeep!!
cheers Frank

Same as my TPM, they picked up as soon as I turned the key on, no faults at all. Alot easier to buy a new set from dealer than pulling off the original tyres IMHO, not that expensive.
Good info MY300

Hi MY300
Thanks for the info. Always wondered how TPM's worked and what they looked like inside the wheel. I guess they don't need batteries to operate but act like a transponder or saw device that responds to a polling signal.
Cheers!

Hi Jaffa... Can't confirm but what I have picked up is that they work off a batteries which can last up to 5 years .But it is recomended that you change them when you replace your Tyres...May be our overseas Forum Members can comment on that as we havent had the cars here long enough to wear out a set of tyres...cheers Frank

Hi Frank,
I am new to this Forum and now just learning about this TPM. First, I didn't even know it was on the 300C. Second, where is it located? I understand it is fitted through the valve stem area (ie. where the tube goes if we want to pump air into the tyres). But looking at the picture, it looks a bit awkward in the sense that how does the valve cap fit over it? Or is it under the actual valve stem?
I am confused and want to understand before I get too excited about changing to 22inch wheels.
Cheers,
DC300C

Those little "devices" are actually inside the tyre. When you get you new wheels and tyres get the tyre fitter to open up you old wheel/tyre and remove them for fitment to the new assemblies.
