Thanks for the info Bernard.

An update on where we are at with our plans.

The SCT flash tuner will be here in the next couple of weeks I gather and we will then start our mods in earnest. Our benchmark dyno reading produced 242 rwkw from the SRT8 with only 1,000 km on board and we will be repeating those runs pre modication on the same dyno now that there is 7k km up.

We have our drag nationals at Heathcote tomorrow (weather permitting) and I will see if I can't find a technique that gives some traction and improves on the 13.9 @ 105 odd mph we got last time out.

BY way of comparison with the FPV product, a stock auto GT-P returns a rwkw figure of around 230-235 and a quarter mile time in the low 14's - although I had one freak run at 13.6 with the mph at around 100.

Cheers
Russ

Have you or Dynomotive given any consideration as to what affect the mods will have on the MDS?
Hi all,
Dynomotive is working alongside Difilippo Racing regarding a Stage 1 and Stage 2 kit for the 300C 5.7 HEMI.

Stage 1 essentially being a Difilippo cat-back exhaust system and a ECU tune to yield figures of 285KW at the flywheel.

Stage 2 being Stage 1 plus Difilippo headers and high flow catalytic converters. This is to yield figures of 310+KW at the flywheel.

No mention regarding the intake but I am sure there are sufficient intake upgrades available such as Dub-Air and K&N. It is advised to install these first before any of the above Stages so that the ECU tune is optimised.

Dynomotive and Difilippo however net a "test mule". They have approached me but I haven't yet committed as they need the car for 1 week for the exhaust upgrade and plus my car will be brand new and hence do not want it subject to immediate high loads by way of revs etc. The agreement is that I will only pay for the cost of materials. Difilippo Racing advises that the reason why they need a 300C 5.7 HEMI for 1 week is because they want to build an exhaust system that will not have this droning issue; so they are at least aware of this issue. They want to make it 100% right and also make good power.

Cheers,
DC300C

Just some Trivia for you guys.....

I have just purchased a new VW Transporter T5 Van for work. Here is the Pic

I know this car is kinda Off Topic but I just had it chipped and I got 152kw at the wheels. This might sound not much but........it is a 2.5 Diesel!!!

Anyways....... My logic is... I will save money on fuel during work hours so I can drive freely after hours and on weekends in my SRT8.

Wow! That is impressive, especially when you have fitted larger (heavier) 22 inch wheels.

Here is the dyno scan from the initial run. All remaining runs as we go through the upgrades will be conducted on the same dyno but obviously we have no control over atmo conditions.

We also went to the strip again this weekend to try and lay down some base times - without much success.

The two graphs below are from my VBox and show why!
For those who aren;t used to reading this data the little squiggles at the start of the run are wheelspin and the flattened curve in Run 1 is where I hit the rev limiter.

Cheers
Russ

Has anyone undertaken either the Stage 1 or Stage 2 Dynomotive mods? If so, were there any problems?

I'm looking at it, but not sure at this stage what effect it will jhave on insurance.

Hi all,

Well, just to let you know that I have finally installed the Magnaflow (full stainless steel) cat-back exhaust system on my 300C 5.7 HEMI.

One word to describe the sound?...syrup...this is the best sounding V8 I have ever heard for a road car...GRRRRR...very happy with the purchase...it definately revs well/better in the mid to upper rev range...and definately more punch...

The drone?...yes, it is there when MDS is activated...for now, I am not worried/concerned about it based on my day to day driving...

I have also just purchased the K&N Air Filter Kit...Will have that installed...hopefully later this week (assuming it arrives mid this week)...

Once it has been installed, I will need to sit down and "think" whether I should upgrade the headers before I go to Dynomotive for the ECU tune...

My only concern is that the upgraded headers will yield a louder sound...not something I want...

But if 290KW - 305KW (flywheel) is something that I want, then I may have to resort to upgrading the headers...

Cheers,
DC300C

Hi Bernard - glad to see you went with the Magnaflows! They sound awesome don't they! Gotta love that syrupy V8 note.
