Cheers. I'm now looking at getting an AIRHAMMER, simply because anyone who owns one has nothing but good things to say about it. Plus the boost of fifteen extra hp at the wheels is a SWEET bolt-on power upgrade.

Hmmmm, those performance 'module' add-ons sound a bit dodgy, I just looked into the Jet Performance modules, and I've suddenly lost my urge to purchase one.

I would like to get the 300C dyno-tuned when I put these parts in, however if that requires me to purchase an aftermarket 'tunable' ECU (and I've heard of this being the case for other cars), forget it.

Essentially, I'd like an ECU map that makes better use of the CAI, exhaust, Premium fuel and such, instead of just the outright benefits these parts give. Having said that, I don't intend to squeeze the upteempth ounce of power I can get out of the HEMI, and I'll probably ask the dyno folks to crank it back a notch from max to make life easier on the engine.

So my question is, can the stock ECU be tuned, and am I better off taking it to a dyno joint and have them tune it for me? I know there are flash modules and 'tune-it-yourself' kits out there, but I don't want to be mucking around too much with the engine tuning. If I can have someone else do it simply and better than I can, I'll go for it.

We've just finished our development work (thus far) so it's time for an update.

Things we have learnt:

1. The XFI cams may well be a good thing on a 300C but they aren't much good for an SRT8 although (in fairness) it was only the middle of the three available grinds.

2. The stock intake system on the SRT8 is exceptionally good for not only air flow but also (and more importantly) for the speed of the air flow in the plenum. It would probably make a good addition to a 300C 5.7 as a stock looking alternative to some of the aftermarket kit.

3. Underbonnet temperatures are terrible on even a mildy warm day. We'll be investigating this one a little further to see what can be done.

4. We desperately need a working ECU tuner - not that most people here don't already know this!

5. Hi flow cats are worth about 5rwkw which is a handy gain.

6. The more rubber at the rear end - the better. We identified early on that traction was going to be a big issue at the strip and the 275/40's have helped that markedly. As a side note the wet weather performance of the Kumho's is roughly akin to pouring oil on the tyres but they are great in the dry.

Dyno is now showing a slightly improved 255rwkw and the 26th will see this tested at HPR to see what we have actually gained.

I'll post the results then.

Cheers
Russ

The bitumen dyno returned a solid half second improvement with a best of 13.4183 @ 108.62 mph. The traces look much better from a traction viewpoint thanks to the extra rubber on the rear.

60' times still need some work with a 2.118 and a 2.202 respectively.

Cheers
Russ

Hi all in regards to Ecu Tuner -Star scan I think whats the go in getting one
I have read that some guys have them in the US
I know Superchips are availlable and they do their there thing well.Is there an advantage in having what DC have??? just curious and deciding whether the Superchips is worth while...
Russ you were interested in the Airhammer before have you knocked it on the head from your resuts you have been getting

I would like to say i am on the same page as you Gunslinger just to get the optimised fine tuning and gear shifting out of the Hemi 300C

Frank

Frank, the Starscan is the DC diagnostic tool which is not freely available to the consumer.

I think you are referring to the SuperChips Flashpak. You could hook up with snoopdolks and get him to upload the Flashpak tune to see how it goes on your ride. Of course you cannot keep the tune as the systems requires an off load of your factory setting and then upload of your selected Flashpak tune, but it would still give you the opportunity to try before you buy.

Thanks John I do understand what the Flashpak can do I have been in Bezitas car and its awesome.
I was more of thinking my Mechanic being able to access the Diagnostics and giveing it a tweak...Just a thought. I like to experiment ..
Flashpac would do all I would need and more I am sure...Cheers frank

Hi Frank

No, I am still interested in going there along with a locally produced exhaust and a couple of other ideas we've floated around.

Cheers
Russ
