Daytime Running Lights for Aussie 300c's

Hi All:

Has anyone had Daytime Running Lights activated on their Aussie 300c?

Has anyone asked their dealer to investigate whether this option can be enabled on an Aussie 300c using the StarScan device?

Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

My last three cars have had daytime running lights and I would like to have it on the 300c as well.

Cheers
MM

I asked the dealer at first service and he knew nothing about them. Told him I would get info before next service, but as we only use AHEMI occasionally that could be some time off. That was until the recall notice came thru today,so was just thinking I would start asking and you beat me to it.
Dealer is Werribee Chrysler
Cheers

Technician's Checklist - DRL enabling
Here, for easy reference by any Mopar service writer or technician with access to the StarSCAN tool, is the Technician's Checklist. Suggest you print a copy for presentation to your service writer.

Technician's Checklist - Daytime Running Light (DRL) enabling:

1. Verify your StarSCAN unit has been updated via update CD to version 6.03 or higher and displays "6.03" (or higher) in the upper RH corner of the display screen.

2. Enter Vehicle Preparation menu.

3. Select DRLs.

4. Select Enable (Note: some vehicles may already show Enabled, if so select Disable, then re-Enable.)

5. Select Disable. You will hear an alert chime and see various warning lights appear on the instrument panel.

6. Select Enable.

7. Start engine. Manually select headlamps to Off with light switch*.

8. Visually confirm DRLs on (High beam lamps partially illuminated). Note: DRL will extinguish with turn signal blinking, selected side. This is normal.

*Note for forum users: The instruction to manually de-select headlights (switch not in Auto or Headlight) is included to insure that the headlights won't be on during the attempt to visually verify that the DRLs are enabled. With the headlight switch in Auto and the car inside a service bay the headlights will frequently be on. Headlights always over-ride DRLs, and would thus keep the DRLs from showing - not good if one is attempting to visually verify that DRLs were, in fact, enabled.

Reminder: With engine running, the DRLs will be illuminated anytime that the car's headlights are not on regardless of the position of the light switch, whether day or night. They cannot, in fact, be commanded off via the light switch, only replaced by head lamps.

In the US lots of cars are fitted with DRLs. The high beams get about 50% of the normal power and illuminate sort of yellowish. On the highway you can see them from a long way off. On many secondary US highways it is law to run with your lights on during the day to be visible to oncoming vehicles. They look pretty good IMHO.

Sounds like what I want then. I like driving with my lights on but don't like having to turn them on everytime I get in the car.

Went to Werribee Chrysler today for the recall job and asked them to activate DRLs as per HEMI57s instructions. Would not work as ours is export model and is only possible on those sold in Nth. America.
Cheers

I found this post wich indicates you change the coutry code first then change it back when complete.

copy from another forum:

first and foremost, your dealer (or me) must have version 6.03 or higher to get the DRL's to work. Earlier versions had a bug that would let people enable it and it looked like everything was ok, but it did not work. So here we go:

From the main screen, click Vehicle Preparation. NOTE THE VERSION NUMBER IN THE TOP RIGHT SECTION OF THE SCREEN. Mine shows 6.03 so we are good to go.

Important: European cars - region (country code) must be set to US or Canada before changing - after mod is active switch back to your country settings.

Scroll down the list until you see the selection "Enable DRL"

Select it by touching the screen where it says "Enable DRL" and then press the start button. After a few seconds a window will pop up (yeah pop ups are everywhere not just the internet).

If this is really what you want to do, click the next button at the bottom of the pop up.

Click the Enable button and wait a few seconds. If the change was successful you will see a window like this one:

Click Finish and that is it. Go and check to make sure your DRL's are working now. Here is what mine look like:

Looks like the beam is on at about 30% power.
