Question My alarm goes off for no reason??

Thought i'd post this in the Aussie section first as I know our cars come standard with an alarm system and I'm not sure whether our NA brethren have it standard on their cars.

My alarm has been going off for no reason at all at least 3 times in the last 3 weeks. It has been at night when it is locked securely away in my double garage. It has me puzzled.

I thought it may be a small insect that has flown in through the sunroof or window and has become trapped inside and flown in front of the motion sensor. Otherwise I have no explanation.

Anyone else out there having problems with theirs, or is it just me?

yeh no problem here, i had to test mine the other week because i didnt know what it sounded like, damm its loud! , with my previous car i had a similar problem and it was due to water getting into the siren under the hood as i was told, so i had to discount it. i would take it to the dealer for sure

Shane, no problem with either of mine. As turk suggested, I would get the service department to check it out.

Hi AussieHemi,

I havn't had the problem with mine, but I met a lady in the WPS stand at the v8's a couple of months back that had one of the first, if not the first SRT-8 300's in Bris (Silver). She has the problem and has had it since getting the car. Albion C/J/D were looking at it for her, you may want to give them a call or get your dealership to call Albion to see if they got it sorted and what do to.

Good luck buddy,
B

Question

Hi AussieHemi
My alarm used to go off when I opened the boot (by remote) while the car was locked and armed. Had to "open the doors first", then "open the boot" and the alarm would be ok. Thought this was normal. This happened in the first 2 months.

Not long ago I forgot the sequence and opened the boot (by remote) first while the car was locked and armed but the alarm didn't go off. So now I can open the boot without the alarm going off. Not sure which is better or why it changed.

The motion sensor inside the car is quite sensitive. Sitting in the driver's seat while the alarm was armed I found that moving my head just clear of the headrest was enough to set it off.

So far the alarm hasn't gone off by itself.
Hope you get yours sorted easily. Let us know the cause when you find it
Cheers!

its happen to me, but only if i leave the sunroof open, not 100% sure if just leaving the window open will do it, havent really tested that but i definately know it does it when the roof is open... must not like having it left open with alarm armed..

cheers..

Just leaving a window open (even a little) will do it - I've accidentally tested that theory twice now!

Cheers
