5.7 Hemi Autostick question

Hi All,

When I tap the autostick left once, the gear display shows 4..... regardless of whether the car is in motion or not. Need to hold the stick for a sec before it drops / selects optimum gear.

Is this how it is on all 5.7 hemis? In other makes for instance, when the car is motionless the gear display reads 1 and will only display 4 when the car is actually moving in 4th gear.

shil, I think that is normal but not 100% sure. With the SRT8 is does drop to 1 when you stop if you autostick at all but I am not sure how the 300C behaves. I am sure someone will chime in with an explanation.

It's typical MB "slapstick".If you tap left you'll be able to work it down to first.Tapping it right will take it up the ladder to "D".When it's in the lower gears that is top gear.The main advantage to this is you are able to effectively downshift especially going from "D" to second then punching it. Have fun !!!

I believe for a 5.7, when it shows 4 it means you limit yourself to 4 gears and it will not go to 5th unless may be when you over rev it. Not necessary means you are actually on gear 4 at that moment. I find Left Right stick movement not a perfect idea because I once put my hand on the stick and corner hard and accidentally push it against my will. I have not touch it ever since.

With the Superchips flashpaq my 5.7 will display "1" if I go into autostick while sitting still. I'm pretty sure that before I tuned with the flashpaq it displayed "4". In stock form the autostick is pretty much useless anyway; get the flashpaq and you will like it MUCH better. Crisper shifts in both auto and manual mode, more "instant" shifting in autostick mode, plus you will have the ability to select "5th" gear like our SRT8 brothers do stock.
