Most Expensive Oil?

Took my new 300C-CRD for its first service just before Christmas. The dealer charged A$330 for 9.5 liters of oil. It is over A$34 per liter, it gives a new meaning to the word "Liquid Gold". Apparently it uses Mobil 1 5W-30 and I am trying to find out if I can use Castrol Edge Sport 5W-30 which was on sale at A$30 per 5 liters. (Big W) . I am waiting for a reply from Castrol and will update this later.

Hi 300C-CRD! Good to have you on board! Great forum here and heaps of stuff to learn. Whereabouts in Aus are you from?

In regards to your oil, I'm not too sure about the different requirements for the diesel as opposed to the Hemi, but I use Castrol Edge Sport 5W-30 in mine and have had no problem. And yes, it's about $50 bucks for 5 litres.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It is good to be in the 300C club. I am doing my best to boost up the member number in Canberra, ACT. Look forwards to all the news and chats.

Best regards

James

No problem!

You should see if you can hook up with turk182 - he is your local Canberra man. You might have seen him around - he has a black one with 24" wheels!! I'm sure he'll drop by here and say g'day.

Welcome again James.

BTW - don't forget to register in the Australian Forum section. Heaps of interesting threads in there as well.

welcome to the forum James, there's one other member from Canberra. turk182. which gets me wondering, is there ACT in the what state you live in poll on our Australian forums? i know someone left out Tasmania at the start, hehehehe.

anyway, back on topic, don't know much about CRDs unfortunately, only person i can think of that has a CRD in Australia and bvdwyer. maybe PM him regarding the servicing costs. i have a hemi and when i checked out some places for a service, i was quoted 325 for the whole service, including oil. so i'd say that you were alittle overcharged. i'd be logging a complaint somewhere.
