Smile VIN Decode

Hi all,

Although I have been into Mopars for many years, I am a 300C newbie (had mine for just over a week now!).

I have deciphered my VIN number, although I can't find a reference in the material I have for the 5th digit in the VIN number.

I understand that the 5th digit represents the "Vehicle Line", and that this should be a letter of the alphabet - either A, K, R, V, or Z?

Mine is a number - "9" -any ideas what this deciphers to?

I am used to more simple VIN/body numbers found on Valiants!!

Cheers

J = Challenger (RWD) (LHD)
K = 300/300C/Charger (AWD) (LWD)
V = 300 Touring/Magnum (RWD)
Z = 300 Touring Magnum (AWD)
6= 300C/SRT-8 (RWD) (LHD)
7= 300C (AWD) (LHD)
8 = 300C/SRT8 (RWD) (LHD) BUX

Jeez that's wierd. I checked the service manual and sure enough vcval's right. It should be one of the letters he's pointed out for the vehicle line. The only thing I can gather from that is the 9 represents the Aussie Spec 300. My guess is all of you will have the same thing.

Thanks for that!

As a follow up question - what does "BUX" mean?

Cheers

Thanks for that - I guessed "X" may have been for Export (consistent with some of the Valiant codes), but the "BU" had me a bit stumped.

Cheers
