Lucky b*stard, at least you got to have fun before getting shafted.
I'm looking at a 6mth suspension period, simply because the cops have nothing better to do but pick on innocent people. First got nailed by a camera fine, 72 in a 60 zone, didn't decelerate fast enough from the 80 zone, cop was a sneaky git but I was in the wrong. 1pt.
Then the BS starts sliding in. I get booked $225 and three points for "failing to stop for a yellow light." I was coming down a hill, not speeding, but by the time the light changed to yellow, if I were to have attempted to stop my tyres would have locked up and I'd have slid to the middle of the intersection (no doubt at that point the cop would have done me for hooning because there was smoke and tyre squeal). At the time I couldn't afford the time off to take it to court, so I bit the bullet and took it. That's my P-plates worth of points, so now I'm on a year's good behaviour. Ok, fine.
THEN, I get camera fined doing 76 in a 60 zone. I found the spot the copper was parked. IN SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY with no signs out. I know the fine's BS because I had the cruise control on at the time. A lawyer straight-out tells me I'm boned despite the officer's shady behaviour, because the QLD police will fight tooth-and-nail to avoid a legal precedent on their precious speed cameras.
Just starting a new job, and I REALLY don't feel like approaching my new boss about signing an affidavit so I can still get to work.
