Regular of Premium?

Had to stop in and get fuel earlier tonight and being in a small town, the last servo is closed at 10PM and it is having renovations done!

They are actually down to two pumps - One desil and one Premium/Regular unleaded. and the premium had a chain on it!!

Now, we have always used premium (she's good - she deserves it ) but, being forced to used regular, I was a little concerned that she might feel like she's being punished.

But it did get me thinking, how many out there fill up with Regular unleaded, Premium or 98 octane?

really? i used to switch and change in my ss depending on the price and if i planned on thrashing it in the next few days, lol. i used to notice a marked difference when on premium. more k's per tank by ~15% when driving easy, and no pinging when driving hard. in the Srt8 i have only put premium... have a little more money to spare these days, lol. all other cars onnly get regular or gas... i love gas. spoke to my gas installer yesterday about doing a custom direct vapour injection system on the srt8. he was thrilled to bits and said he would be honoured. the only issue is Parnell have the only complienced system in Aus at the moment and their systems are pricy. this is the brand the dealers use and they quote $5k+!! he wants to build a custom gas rail and alloy weld nozzels into the intake and run the gaqs rail parallel to the fuel rail... i think it will be A1 but don't like the idea of the tank in the boot, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere else for it...

Nothing but BP Ultimate goes into my car. It has been tuned for the 98 octane so using a different fuel would be bad. Mind you at the track neck week I will be using a racing fuel which is higher octane again.

Does Australia use the same octane rating system as the U. S. A.?

Using regular wont harm the car, but Premium just goes better and makes more power.

No, our 98 is about the same as your 95.

98 equals 93 in US. You have to deduct around five to get US octane rating.

Couple of comments.

OZ Octane is RON
US is straight Octane.

Standard 5.7 needs only regular ULP. I reckon you are wasting your money and possibly getting worse economy using premium IMHO.

Yeah oops 98 is 93 I knew it was something like that.

I have used Ultimate in this car and my last car (BA XR6) and reckon it runs better with the Ultimate.
