Tagedy of the Mighty Murray

I have posted a few pics here for your information. Although not forum related. The Prime Minister and State Premiers are promising more water down stream to Adelaide and Melbourne. I have included some reality of the drought here illustrating the effects on Australia's greats river and life giver. There are some more pleasant pics at end.

This one taken today with the others shows the amount of water in the River. As you can see there is plenty of water in reserve to increase water in other badly affected areas. ha ha ha yeah right. The water is only ankle deep.

This one of the Bethanga bridge should have water 5 metres from the deck.

Just being arty here

OK; you can see there isn't any in reserve here. How can the government promise more water. I am standing where the water normally is.

Pleasant news now. This is a great place. Jingelic pub. Great food and beer. it overlooks the upper Murray. Free camping at rear of pub. The water level here is still good for recreation.

Karen looking down at camping area behind the pub. Hot showers and toilets at pub. BBQ facilities in camp area.

Looking at pub bistro area and shower block.

I went to an engineers association meeting last week, with a lecture by some guy from Yarra Valley water. he said that yep, there's less rain, but the real problem is that it's not falling where the dams are.

He reckoned that if they where building the dams now rather than 50 yrs ago, they wouldn't put them where they are now!.

All the rain we get is going straight out to sea.

So the dams we have are getting emptier, the rain we do get is going out to sea, & they won't build new dams, ho ho, but the great Aussie public keeps on voting the deadbeats (of either colour) in.

Good one Kel.

The states abuse the Murray, have done for years. I just hope the "climate change" people have got it all wrong and we will get a bucketing of rain one of these days and back to normal rainfall. I hope.

It is a fact that our climate is changing, but carbon trading? It is just another gimmick of "tax raising". Can't see what we do or don't in Australia can change the climate of the world. It will be cheaper to build a pipeline to the north to divert some of the flood water to the south.

Nah, the Gods are getting happy, when they see how concerned we are for this fragile planet of ours, and that we are upset at what we have done.

Remorse is amazing.

Washed my car at the weekend and as usual it rained all day yesterday, now my car is dirty so the rain stops this morning. I shall do my best to help the Murray that I am going to wash my car this afternoon so it will rain again tomorrow.
