SRT8 pads...cheaper than expected

Just had the 36k service today on my SRT8 at the local dealership and was greeted with some better than expected news. Had the front and rear brake pads replaced and was surprised that the front pads were $86 and the rear $220.

Priced some pads out of curiousity (in the US and at the local dealership)when i first bought the car 18months ago and the average price was around $500 odd dollars just for the front and similar for the rear...so i almost lubed up before pulling out the credit card today. Good to see not everything is going up in price!

Yet the normal 300c front pads are $234 a pair??
Hopefully this one stays under the bean counter radar for a while!

Rear pads sound about right.. the more stock they move, prices will start to come down (in theory )

Konvict,

Can you PM me on your dealer as I'm in Brissie as well & my dealer quoted $380 for rear only on my Touring SRT about 3 months ago.

Ripped off or what.

I got a feeling that the dealer has made a mistake on the price of the front pads. Better not question it but buy another set for spare.

Don't these things run Brembo calipers, you would think that they would run an off the shelf brembo pad, not some high priced chrysler only piece of kit?

The guy who looks after the SRT pace car for the v8 supercars was using porsche pads in the front IIRC.
Next time i see him i'll try & get a part number.
Don't know if they are cheaper, but he's certainly replacing them less often!
