warranty info???

hi guys wondering if anyone knows where or has a copy of the chrysler warranty. I am in a battle with my stealership about 2 rattles in the dash. 1 in the steering column and 1 under the dash on the passenger side (somewhere under the LHS speaker). they charged me to "fix" the rattles. neither rattle has actually been fixed and 1 is actually worse than before taking it in.

the dealer tells me
The reason you would have been charged for this job is because warranty will not cover rattles or adjustments after your 1000k service. Unfortunately this is a manufacture rule.
However if the noise is still in the vehicel we will have a look at it for you under or 12 mth workman ship warranty.

I asked for a copy of the warranty and he said he could not provide that to me.

any help would be greatly welcomed

You can download the Warranty manuals from the Chrysler website here.

http://www.chrysler.com/en/owners/

But reading through the Warranty manual, it says it only applies to cars built for sale in the US. So you must have a different Warranty in Australia.
In the US, there are no 1k limitations. The only thing with a 12k limitation are the items listed below. Looks like Chrysler gives the royal shaft to everyone outside the US.

The Basic Limited Warranty lasts for 36 months from the
date it begins or for 36,000 miles on the odometer,
whichever occurs first. But the following items are
covered only for 12 months or for 12,000 miles on the
odometer, whichever occurs first:
• brakes (rotors, pads, linings, and drums);
• wiper blades;
• clutch discs;
• windshield and rear window; and
• wheel alignment and wheel balancing

G. Registration and Operation Requirements
The Basic Limited Warranty covers your vehicle
only if:
• it was built for sale in the U.S.;
• it’s registered in the U.S.;
• it’s driven mainly in the U.S. or Canada; and
• it’s operated and maintained in the manner
described in your Owner’s Manual.

Rattles in the dash are so hit and miss. You might be very interested in reading this How-to solution as it just might be the very same thing in your vehicle.

How-To: Stop dash rattles and squeaks permanently.

I take it the service and warranty handbook is missing from your vehicle?

I have read through the one for my 2007 Australian delivered car and there is definitely no specific clause stating the rattles are not covered after 1000km.

Where I think you may come unstick, looking at your avatar and mod list, is that anything caused directly or indirectly by modifications made to the vehicle would not be covered. It would be fairly easy for example to make a case that your larger diameter wheels with low profile tyres and the resulting harsher ride would give rise to rattles that would not occur with the stock wheels and tyres.

FWIW I had a similar line from a dealership about the 1000km exclusion for rattles even though another delership had previously attempted unsuccessfully to fix them under warranty well after 1000km. I also had the line that my LPG conversion was causing the rattles, yeah right, the glass peanel in the radio is rattling because the car is running on LPG, I don't think so.

I gave up on the issue because the next thing they wanted to do was remove the dash at my expense and on top of the fact that they charge $120 per hour, I just don't have the confidence that they would know how to put it back together properly.

I could probably scan the manual for you if you really need it but I'm sure someone closer to home can lend you one. Hell, just demand that the dealer shows you the specific clause in the manual.

Good luck with the battle, it will all depend on how determined you are. A $70,000 luxury car shouldn't have rattles.

PS: My 2006 model with 195,000km on the clock doesn't have any rattles, but both of the 2007 models do.

thanks bruno the fix shown in the above link is what the service dept tryed, however the rattle is from within the dash on LHS.

I will probably just take the car back to the dealer as i just spoke with them and this time there will be no charge. it is the moral of it like protego said a $70000 car should not rattle.

p.s. I took the 22 inch wheels off and put my stock's back on so they wouldn't use them as an excuse why there would be rattles.

Not surprised you had issues with the Rockhampton dealer. I had to eventually go to a Solicitor because they would fix nothing on a brand new car and there were too many problems to list here - disgusting! Anyway, my advice to you for the future if this happens again is to go directly to Chrysler and ask them to resolve it for you. Failing that, go to either Mackay or Bundaberg dealer because at least they won't lie to you and will not treat you like a twit who has asked them to give up their first born!
