November delivery

I have been keeping an eye on the 300c via the intenet since it was released in the USA.My wife loved the car also so that was a big plus when I said "if they ever come out in Australia, we're getting one". We have it as a pace car at our V8supercar races and everyone loves it.
300 of them are arriving here in november (7 alocated to our state) and a friend and I have put a down payment on one for each of us.That was 2 months ago and we are still the only two to do so in our state (Adelaide,SA).My friend has only seen pics of the car and took my word as it being an awsome car before putting his money down. I however had a rare chance to sit in one (still left hand drive) at our Motor show.
He has chosen Black and as I am a bit slack and dont clean cars as much as they need it, I have chosen Silver. Both are with full options and he has his nickle plated mesh grille and crome b-pillars already and mine will come soon.
We are both looking for suitable 20" rims/tyres that we plan to import from the US (much cheaper!). I am also looking for headrests with screens and I maybe looking at a pc and screen to replace the nav screen.
Anyone who can help out with any ideas/experiences or sites to visit I would appreciate it.

Dave

G'day Dave, welcome to the forum. As you will see, I have been here for quite some time and my story is very similar to yours in that it was my wife who said, "that is your new car"

I put money down last November and I am patiently waiting for the 300C release. I have a direct contact in Chrysler HQ here in Melbourne and get a "news" update from him every 3 or so months on the progress of production in Austria and the finalisation of the Aussie car's specifications.

Yeah, I have my mesh grille in the cupboard at home too and I have been exploring the import of TIS03 20" with Pirelli P-Zeros. I have hit a bit of a problem with communication breakdown with a couple of potential wheel/tyre dealers in the US. Some will not ship outside North America and the biggest issue I have is the type and cost of shipping. Seems they can only deal with airfreight and the quote is around US$700. Remember you have to pay duty and GST on the whole cost (including freight). I don't need the wheels & tyres until November and I thought shipping by sea would be the best alternative.

Drop me a personal message and we can exchange e-mail addresses.

Hi Guys,

how are you going, good to see more Aussies on here. I havn't yet put a deposit on as i'm waiting to see if the SRT-8 comes to Australia, any news on this? A guy at the service dept of a Bris dealer told me the SRT8 Grand Cherokee would be coming at the late of the year, I'm considering getting one of these until the SRT8 300C comes out.

Welcome one and all, like to see more Aussies. I sincerely hope that you get your cars pretty soon. I had one on order for 3 months, and got tired of "no idea when it is going to be built" and I a bought one off the lot at a local dealer.
Congrats on a great choice!!!

conceptb, long time no hear

I have been playing telephone tag with my contact a DC HQ here for the past week or so. I figure that now we are about 3+ months out from release they must have the specs firm and even the colour choices, so I am endeavouring to get that info.

Best information I have on the 300 SRT is possibility for late 2006 or early 2007, and that is from the press articles.

My dealer had the 300C which has done the rounds of the Motor Shows for a couple of day last week. They had it parked in the street out front on Nepean Highway and reckoned it generated a huge amount of interest and inquiry. They were not allowed to drive it but I could sit in it with the motor running and use all the controls. It wasn't a disappointment.

Ahh fantastic Hemi57, i've been over in the US where i saw heaps of 300C's and a couple of SRT8's, they look great. I can't wait till they arrive here. There are a lot of standard 300's but a lot of moded 300C's, it's great.

conceptb, I made contact with Chrysler HQ yesterday and had a chat getting the updates on the 300C and SRT8 for OZ.

Firstly 300C. Seems the local OZ Spec cars will be "fully loaded" (Bose, Xenons, tyre pressure sensors, rain sensitive wipers, park assist, etc.) as standard. All cars will have the one interior colour (light grey). 300C OZ production in Austria was due to start next Wednesday but has been delayed 7 - 10 days (not sure why).

WRT sunroof, he mentioned that they would come installed from the factory and they expected the take up rate to be over half. On this point I neglected to quiz further, ie. so all cars will have roof? or some will and it will be an extra? Not sure.

SRT8, is not confirmed for Australia. If it does happen they are trying to target Q3 06 for release but is definitely not a done deal.

Chrysler OZ is in US the week after next to finalise the pricing which is to be released at the Sydney Motor Show (October?). They will also be doing the business case for the SRT8 while over there.

Thanks for the updates Hemi57. I'm always excited to get the inside info. A fully loaded 300c is great to hear also.

Thanks again for the updates.

oh yeah, that would be great HEMI57, whenever you get a chance tho. i currently have a 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland and recently I've had dealers calling me up asking if i'm interested in driving the new Hemi Grand Cherokee, I haven't been for a drive yet, but yesterday i asked the guy when the 300c would be arriving so i can get a good look at it, he told me he has no idea when or if they will be arriving, not the best way to get me buying a car from him, i'll be going to someone different.

Thanks again for the updates HEMI57, keep them coming. I've still got my fingers crossed for the SRT-8 300C coming to OZ.
