What Gen is my car

Hi Guys and Girls

I've been advised of the following and I'm looking to confirm please.

2004 - 2008 = Gen 1
2008 - 2011 = Gen 2
2012 - Current = Gen 3

I would be keen to learn more as I understood we had a Gen1 and a Gen2

Gen1 = 2004 - 2010
Gen2 = 2011 - Current

Cheers
Gavin

My understanding is:
Gen 1 2005 - 2010 (Facelift 2008 with the different boot/trunk lid etc)
Gen 2 2011 - current (again facelifted in 2015 with different front grill, rear lights etc)

?

1, 2, 3?
First gen would have to include 2006-2011 including the facelift models.
