They Definitely Work!

Well I had my first experience with the ABS on my C today. Everyone slammed on the brakes in front of me and that thing stopped on a dime. I ended up not even coming close to the Expedition in front of me. I have never owned a vehicle that could stop so fast. Great job DCX!

You'll be amazed at how much faster you can stop if you replace those stock "grand touring" tires with the BFG gForce KDWS tires.

Be glad the guy behind you had equally good brakes or reflexes.

It's an interesting balancing act when you're trying to keep from hitting the guy in front of you, all the while keeping one eye in the mirror and easing off the brakes enough so you don't get hit from behind.

Bingo! My experience exactly. Balancing getting as close to the car in front without being kissed in the rear.

I can totally relate to that...it happens so many times especially in stop an go traffic. Sometimes you try to swerve to the side to get a few extra inches, being careful not to kiss the guardrail or the car beside you

A while back I was driving my dad's truck on an interstate highway. My dad was sleeping in the passenger seat. Traffic was stopping relatively fast and the car behind me was skidding. Well, I'm doing the balancing act you're talking about......the skidding sound (from behind us) woke up my dad (or maybe the quick decelleration) and my dad starting yelling "Hit the brakes!, hit the brakes!" He was disorientated from sleeping and thought the car in front was skidding. I had a hard time ignoring his constant yelling to stop faster.

We stopped mere feet from the car in front and just about the same time the car behind slid to a stop....than, the second car back crashed into the car directly behind me: thankfully, it wasn't forcefull enough to push him into me.

ON EDIT: the real bad thing for the two cars that had the accident: it was just a mystery jam.....we hadn't been stopped for 5 seconds when traffic started moving at regular speeds. It was a three lane road and all lanes stopped and just started again (except for the lane I was in: now there was a crash that people a little further back probably caused the intial "jam")

Part of the track day we had back in August was a maximum braking exercise. Not a big deal for me, but a real eye opener for my daughter. I had explained the ABS, but until she actually experienced it, she didn't get it. It wasn't until the last time thru the exercise, with me shotgun, telling her to hold it down HARD, that the car did what it should. I strongly suggest you take each driver that has an ABS vehicle in your family out to see if they can actually hold the pedal down hard enough to activate ABS, and keep it activated. Drivers in emergency stop situations have lifted off the stop pedal, when ABS activates, because it startles them.
